Henrique Baptista will compete in the Protyre Formula Renault (BARC) Championship this season, returning to the series with title-winning outfit Scorpio Motorsport.
The 21 year old enjoyed a strong first full season in the category last year and is looking to build on it in 2013, with his preparations for the new campaign beginning recently with hugely positive testing runs at Donington Park and Thruxton.
Henrique, originally from Recife on Brazil’s east coast, will once again compete with Leicestershire–based Scorpio, who won the BARC driver’s titles in both 2008 and 2009.
"I wanted to continue working with Scorpio Motorsport because they did a great job last season, though they're personal CV alone should explain why, with two Formula Renault championships under their belt,” said Henrique.
“I've been working hard with the team and my driver coach 2009 champion Kieren Clark and I'm aiming to be in the top six from the start of the season and then take it from there. The testing program we've got before the start of the season should be more than enough to make my goals achievable this season"
Henrique made his debut in the category in the 2008 BARC Winter Cup, before taking a break to complete his studies. The Eastbourne-based racer took two impressive top twelve finishes last season in a hugely competitive field, finishing up twentieth in the championship standings.
